Anatomy of a Flower

We have been learning about flowers this week and the students made this cute project. I cut out the petals and leaves. I used a 1.5" circle punch to cut out the center of the flower. The students had to assemble their flower, add a stem and roots, and label each part of the flower.

The students did a wonderful job!

First Eucharist

Last week we learned about First Eucharist. We made this cute craft to help remind us that during Eucharist we receive the body and blood of Jesus Christ.

I found this craft here. My students especially loved using glitter glue to decorate the chalice.

Easter Themed Activities

We have been talking about Easter so we did some Easter themed projects. We did a fun activity for math. We made Easter egg patterns. The students used stamp pads to make fingerprint patterns. Then they decorated each egg. The students also had to write what type of pattern they made.

 

We also labeled parts of a rabbit. The children cut out their rabbit and glued the label where it belonged.

Cloud Types

We have been learning about clouds this week. I told the students about the four basic cloud types and as I talked about each type I drew a picture of it on chart paper.

Then I had each student draw a picture of each cloud type and label it. Here are two of my student's work.

They did an awesome job. We also went outside an observed clouds. We even saw nimbus clouds!

Holy Week

Last week was Holy Week. I did a lot of activities with my students to help them learn about Holy Week. They did a writing activity, but I forgot to take a picture of it. The students had to draw a picture of one thing that happened to Jesus right before his crucifixion. Then, they had to write about what they drew. 

After we learned about Palm Sunday, the students made this tear-and-glue palm leaf.

We also learned about the Veil of Veronica. The students made their own veils by drawing Jesus' head with the crown of thorns on  a piece of muslin cloth. Some of the students added blood too.

On Wednesday afternoon, we had an Easter egg hunt. I filled about 240 eggs with toys that were donated by my students' families and then I scattered hid the eggs on our grass field. The students had a great time looking for eggs.

On Holy Thursday, the fourth and fifth graders reenacted the Washing of the Feet and the Last Supper for the whole school. My students were silent the whole time; they said it was just like what happened in the Bible.
