December and January in Kindergarten

December and January went by really fast! We were very busy with preparing for our school Christmas play in December, but we still managed to do a lot of fun activities.

We learned about Saint Ignatius of Loyola and made these cute crafts.

We also learned about Saint Juan Diego and Our Lady of Guadalupe. The students made a tilma with Our Lady of Guadalupe on it.

We also learned about Saint John Bosco. He is the patron saint of school children.

This is our religion center. After Christmas break, we changed the table cloth to a green table cloth and added our Jesus doll because the color for Ordinary Time is green and we learn about the life of Jesus during Ordinary Time. There are many fun religious activities for the kids to do when they visit the religion center.

One of the students' favorite activities to do at the religion center is saying a prayer for a specific intention. Each student is able to say one prayer intention each day and "light" their candle. The candles are battery operated and run on a timer. They stay lit for six hours and then they turn off.  I got them on Amazon and the kids love them.

We are currently learning about the Seven Sacraments. Here are the Seven Sacraments with titles based on our religion book (easy names for little ones); instead of Sacraments of Initiation, our book calls them "Welcoming Sacraments".

In social studies, we have been learning about making a positive change in the world. Here are some of the students ideas about how they can make a positive change in the world.

In science, we are learning about weather patterns and the seasons. The students learned that the seasons go in a cycle and they colored pictures of each season. Then they glued the pictures into a circle.

We also learned about types of clouds. The students drew four basic cloud types.

We also made "breeze buddies" to help us see the wind blowing.

Our Music Master this month was Johann Pachelbel. We learned about him and wrote a short piece of Canon in D. We listened to music by Pachelbel throughout the month.

Our Art Master this month was Raphael. We learned about him and wrote about him. Then we did an art project that mimicked his style of art.

We had a great time!
