Bates Nut Farm

My class went to Bates Nut Farm a couple of weeks ago. It was a very hot day, but we still had a lot of fun.

Kids: "Let's pick up this pumpkin!"
"Look! A flower!"
"A seed!"

We went on a tractor ride.

We each got a pumpkin to take home for Halloween.

It was a great day!

Mary Grotto and Liturgical Year

My Kindergarten class is responsible for maintaining the Mary Grotto and Rosary Walk. We had so much fun cleaning up the grotto and watering the plants. We also picked weeds on the Rosary Walk.

We learned about the Liturgical Year last week. We made a Liturgical Year stole. Each section of the stole is a representation of how long that season is. For example, Advent is four weeks long so that section is four inches long.

Kinder Fun

We have been working on recognizing numbers 1-5. The first two pictures are of my students putting birthday cakes in order by the number of candles on each cake.

We are learning about keeping a steady beat and about rhythm. In this picture the kids are dancing to Music Together's Stick Tune.

The kids are doing Square One art. They used oil pastels on paper.

The kids are learning about Van Gogh. We made our own versions of Van Gogh's Wheat Field with Crows.

We had an awesome week.

First Week of School

We were very busy this week. We started Eureka Math. This is a picture of the kids practicing counting fluency.

We counted to 100 with Jack Hartmann.

We made special glow bracelets with an AB pattern.

We played letter sound splat. For this game, I call out a letter sound and the kids have to hit the letter that makes that sound. Then they flip over the letter card.

Then, we used the letter sounds we practiced to read the Bob Book Mat.

Later in the day, we had choice time. During choice time the kids can choose different toys to play with. They develop their social skills during this time.

I have an awesome group of kids and we are going to have a great year.
